 For repairs email info@davidsonamp.com .

WHAT I FIX:

Almost all vacuum tube type guitar amplifiers made in the USA, including Fender, Ampeg, and Peavey. NO CHINESE or KOREAN GARBAGE OF ANY BRAND. Fender amps made in Mexico are no problem. No SVTs or insanely huge tube bass heads until further notice.

REPAIR COSTS:

Routine service including a comprehensive cleaning, (not just a spray job), tube check, power tube biasing, and basic bench test runs only $50. Routine service does not include extensive diagnosis. SVT service is not currently available. There is a non-refundable bench fee of $50, which is applied to "Repair Labor" on all completed repairs.

APPOINTMENTS:

You will need to make an appointment to drop off your amplifier. While-you-wait service is not available.  Weekday afternoons are best, some Saturdays. Most tube guitar amps get repaired within 5-10 days. $50 Bench Fee collected in advance. Cash only. SVT Bench Fee $55 . 9.25% TN sales tax on electronic repairs and parts.

PARTS SOURCES

Tubes:
I purchase almost all of my tubes and tube-specific electronic parts from New Sensor a.k.a. Sovtek/Electroharmonix. They are located in New York and sell by wholesale only.

Recommended 6L6 Fender power tube: Sovtek 5881WXT
  Recommended 12AX7: Sovtek 12AX7LPS
  Recommended 12AT7: Philips N.O.S. U.S. 12AT7WC
Recommended 6550 / SVT power tube: Svetlana 6550C
  Recommended 5AR4/GZ34: Sovtek 5AR4

The tube jungle is complex, and I don't claim to know it all, but I suggest that you avoid anything made in China. Other items to avoid are best discussed in person, so I don't get sued by any gigantic California corporations for telling the truth about their overpriced/overadvertised/shoddy products. Every tube that I sell as part of a repair is guaranteed for 6 months.

Other electronic parts:
I purchase resistors, pots, wire, integrated circuits, transistors, MOSFETs, etc. from Digi-Key and Mouser Electronics. They are both out of state and will sell to retail customers. On line. I use low noise metal film 1% resistors and flameproof metal oxide resistors as replacements for all resistors below 3 watts. Please remember that I only replace parts that need replacing. Carbon composition resistors aren't fit for much unless you're fixing an old ham radio, so feel free to go elsewhere if modern resistors upset you. All Fender jack replacements are OEM U.S. Switchcraft. Likewise vintage Fender switches. Pots are carbon composition, because low-noise equivalents are either too expensive or unavailable. Signal caps are Sprague 715 Orange Drops wherever appropriate. Everything else is my choice based on 15 years experience.

Local electronic parts:
Randolph and Rice on McGavock St. is a great place to buy jacks, plugs, connectors, etc. for studio wiring. Other parts are pricey there. They have a lot of industrial parts but NOT a lot of tube amp parts. If you need a soldering iron, solder, or fuses, Radio Shack is very good for these; although they don't have much else for amps.
